8 Gorgeous Bag Sewing Patterns for Last Minute Gift Ideas
Christmas is just a few days away, and if you’re like me, you’re in need of some last minute gift ideas that you can sew for family and friends. I’m here to rescue you with a collection of gorgeous bag sewing patterns that are available in PDF form to download, print and make right away!
These can all be easily made from scraps or small amounts of fabric in your stash. I’m making at least two of these over the next few days, how many will you be sewing up?

1. Slouch Bag – Parrot & Parsnip
I love Anna’s patterns. I discovered her over on Instagram and love her humor. She uses lots of vintage fabrics and materials to create unique one of a kind pieces which she sells in her Etsy shop, but because of demand, she started making her patterns available too. And her Slouch Bag pattern is perfect for anyone in need of a slouchy bag project to make as a gift!
2. Clio Fanny Pack Pattern – Eve Tokens Patterns
It would be daft of me to not add my very own bumbag pattern here. It’s a firm favourite which I created years ago, and is named after my good friend Clio.
The pattern comes with great step by step guide, but I also have a couple of videos on YouTube showing how to put it together in different ways.

3. Field Belt – Merchant & Mills
I mentioned this one in my blog post about my Christmas sewing plans last week. I’m torn between making it from leather remnants which I have plenty of from years ago, or using up the last of the wax cotton I made my Rowan Tool Roll pattern in… Decisions!

4. Orbit Bag – Helen’s Closet
If you’ve been here before you know I’m a big fan of sewing patterns from Helen’s Closet. The Orbit Bag is a gorgeous bag pattern with a fun quilting detail, which makes it perfect for those who love a bit of quilting!
I saw Helen’s Instagram stories on Friday where she showed off an ombre version she made for her niece and it was divine. If only my youngest niece was into bags.. sigh.
5. Festival Tote – Lou Orth
This is such a fun tote bag pattern. Waaaay more detailed than my simple free tote bag pattern, the Festival Tote from Lou Orth is just gorgeous. I love that it has simple slip pockets and is roomy enough to use every day.
6. Sandhill Sling Bag – Noodlehead
This is a divine sling bag sewing pattern. It’s the perfect size for when you want an easy to carry sling bag that isn’t too big that you overfill it. I love Noodle Head and the Sandhill Sling Bag pattern will be particularly easy to make as there’s also a sew along on their YouTube too!
7. Marjorie Sling Bag – Hey June Handmade
Another indie pattern brand I love to support (I have purchased many of her patterns), the Marjorie Sling Bag is a bag sewing pattern I bought when it first dropped but have not yet found the time to make. rest assured, I will be making it before the year is out! I just need to find the printed copy out from wherever I stashed it!
8. Slabtown Backpack – Klum House
I left this one until the end, as it’s not *quite* a beginner friendly option. The Slabtown Backpack is a bag sewing project for those who have experience and confidence, and are not in a hurry. It is a beautiful bag pattern and requires time to make it look as amazing as it should. I’ve got plans to sew it up in the new year, but I’m not 100% what fabrics I’ll use yet.
Right’o.. that’s a decent sized selection of bag sewing patterns for anyone in need of some inspiration. The first two on my list are the Field Belt from Merchant & Mills and the Marjorie Sling Bag from Hey June Handmade, simply because both will be perfect for my holiday in Morocco in early 2025.
I may also make a new Clio fanny pack too… and I will always travel with my Rowan Tool Roll (which incidentally makes an awesome gift too)!
