5 Easy Things To Sew This Summer
When the heat of summer gets too much to be outside, and you just want to sew something for fun and to be inside in the cool, this list of easy things to sew will be just up your street!
I know that having an idea can be the hardest part of sitting down to sew, so I gathered together some great ideas of easy things that you can sew this summer to help inspire you and keep you cool!
A Circle Skirt
Not gonna lie, this is one of the easiest things you can sew year round. Especially if you grab my circle skirt templates pack, which takes away all the painful math for you!
If you aim for a full circle skirt, the only work involved is putting in a fastening, attaching a waistband and finishing up the hem. Easy peasy.
Pajama Shorts
When it’s hot, the last thing I want to do is wear (or sew) full length pajama pants! Which is why some short and cheeky that I can wear as pajama shorts it high on my list for easy summer sewing projects.
There are many sewing patterns available, but Rosery Apparel has a free pajama shorts pattern available which is a winner in the sewing community.
Newborn Onesie
If you happen to know anyone that is having a baby, then this cute newborn onesie pattern makes a great stash busting project on hot summer days!
It’s short sleeved (though you can lengthen them) and can be made from a tee-shirt that no longer works for you, which makes it a great refashioning project too! Just remember to make sure the fabric you choose is 100% cotton to be soft and gentle on baby’s skin.
Basic Tee
While I’m not quite ready to cover my shoulders and wear a tee – is it just me or does anything with sleeves make you feel like you’re going to overheat as well? – I do like them for the early fall days.
The free tee pattern from Closet Core is a great pattern if you’ve never made a tee before. Did I mention that it is free?
Wrap Skirt
For those of you who prefer a skirt to shorts, why not have a go at making your own DIY wrap skirt? They are perfect for accommodating any summer bloat (hello pizza and pasta) and if you’re happy to stash bust your fabric scraps, great fun to sew as a patchwork wrap skirt!
