The Best Daenerys Targaryen Halloween Costume Ideas
When it comes to Halloween, I’m usually a stickler for costumes being spooky. But, I’m also a huge fan of the style created for Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones, and would quite happily buy and wear a Daenerys Targaryen Halloween costume if it saved me time trying to think up and sew something spooky.
Of course, if sewing is your thing, then you can sew up a costume for yourself – I’ll link to some later on in the post!

How Do You Dress Like Daenerys Targaryen?
So, how do you dress like Daenerys Targaryen? Here are some key notes on the way Daenerys dresses!
The hair that she rocks is important – choose a wig that is styled as worn on the show, or if you’re lucky enough to have hair that is similar length and color, style it yourself for a more natural look.
Choose the right accessories – throughout the show, Daenerys makes use of various accessories, and even finding some that are similar will help make your Daenerys outfit more authentic.
Footwear is also important – this is something I struggle with as I have HUGE feet, but do be aware of the different styles of footwear worn by Daenerys. If you cannot find a ‘costume’ version, do look at the shoe stores, you may find something similar that you can easily modify.
Daenerys Targaryen Hair
Let’s start with the hair, as it is such an obvious aspect of Daenerys’s appearance.
This gorgeous Daenerys wig is based on Season 7 of Game of Thrones and is light blond in color. It’s adult sized too, with hair length being 32″ and the wig fitting a 54-58cm head.
This is such a stunning Daenerys wig! With braids coming round to the back as well as the loose curls, it’s quite detailed, and the reviews state that it is quite soft and true to Daenerys’s hair color on the show.
The Pleated Skirt Dress
You may have read my post about making my own version of Daenerys’s amazing dress. The one with the white pleated skirt?
It came out really well – I’m working on digitizing the pattern so that it is available to download – but in the meantime if you’re not someone who likes to sew costumes, this may be the time to just buy it.
This version of the pleated Khaleesi outfit is made from chiffon, lace and satin and the reviews are highly complementary – check out the photos that others have uploaded, it’s definitely one of the best Daenerys Targaryen costumes available!
The Blue Dress
Next up we have the blue dress. I love how fitted yet sexy this looked on the show and I would actually wear it outside of Halloween and Cosplay!
It’s made from blue linen, and is well made, but there are some suggestions that the proportions are slightly off, so do check your measurements against the product sizing chart!
The reviews of this Blue Daenerys dress on Amazon say it’s great but that the armholes can feel a bit snug.
Daenerys Targaryen Gray Dress
Now, this dress isn’t actually white. It looks more of a gray color if you ask me! It is made from chiffon – polyester! – and it does run big on the chest area!
Reviews of this Daenerys Targaryen dress say that it wouldn’t be great for anyone with a small bust, which counts me out.
I’ve added it here because the reviews do say it’s lovely, and some have worn it to Comicon and had great compliments!
Khaleesi
Remember back when Daenerys was married off to Drogo of the Dothraki and she became his Khaleesi? Well, this is one of the outfits that made me think she was a total badass.
This Khaleesi costume comes with everything you see in the image apart from the boots – including a built in bar in the top! Again, it is a costume I could easily make – and perhaps I will for next Halloween – but for now, I’m thinking I may grab it while they have my size in stock!
Daenerys All Black Outfit
I absolutely love this one. It’s black. It’s edgy. It’s totally me. And it ain’t cheap. The outfit is:
- A dress
- A cape
- A pair of trousers / pants
It’s custom made, so you select a size, and supply your measurements. My best buddy did this for a Hela (Thor Ragnarok) costume last year, and it fit her perfectly. She looked stunning and I suspect I would in this. But, for me it’s the same old thing… should I buy something that I could make quite easily if I had the time, tools and supplies? Hmmm… The reviews on Amazon are great, so I could be convinced!

Daenerys Targaryen Winter Coat
I think this may be my all time favorite winter style coat ever seen on a TV show or in a film. It’s such an accurate reproduction of Daenerys’ winter coat, and probably works out more wallet friendly than making one myself.
And making my own version really would take forever. Imagine sourcing the faux fur, making the pattern, sewing strips together to get the same effect.
As of October ’22 I have some faux fur in my stash that will help me make the perfect – albeit cropped! – version of the Winter Coat. Stay tuned for that, hopefully I’ll have it ready for next Halloween as a DIY tutorial!
